NARRATIVE:

     Margaret Huffman was also known as Margaret Hoffman.3 Margaret may have been born in December 1858 in Ohio.4 At least one census enumeration records that her parents were born in France.4 At least one census enumeration records that her parents were born in Germany.5 On 1 June 1880 Margaret appeared on the 1880 federal census in the household of her husband, Thomas Cunningham, in Harrison Township, Hamilton County, Ohio.5
     Her husband, Thomas Cunningham, died on 11 February 1897 in Shelbyville, Shelby County, Indiana.6 The census also tells us that at the time of the census Margaret had had 7 children, 6 of whom were still living.4 According to this census, the family rented their home.4
     On 2 June 1900 Margaret was enumerated as the head of the household at 237 E. Jackson St. in Shelbyville, Shelby County, Indiana, in the federal census of 1 June 1900. Thomas Cunningham, Joseph Cunningham, Mary Cunningham and Harry Cunningham also lived there at the time of the enumeration.4 At the time of her marriage in 1905, Margaret was employed as a house laborer in Shelbyville.2 On 22 April 1910 Margaret appeared on the 1910 federal census in the household of her husband, Fred W. Conrad, at 219 East Washington Street in Shelbyville, Shelby County, Indiana.7
